Strategy

A partner for your legacy.

We buy into businesses we would be proud to own for decades, we decide with our own capital, and we create value by making companies better rather than by engineering their balance sheets.

01Permanent capital

Owners, not interim stewards.

Most buyers of private companies are investing someone else’s money on someone else’s timetable. We are not.

Caldrion is a single family office. Every dollar we invest in private equity is our own, and it comes with no fixed fund lives and no outside investors waiting on a distribution. That changes the questions we ask. We do not ask how a business will look to the next buyer in a few years; we ask what it needs to be stronger in a decade, and whether we are the right owner to help it get there.

Permanence is not passivity. It gives us room to invest ahead of results—in systems, people and acquisitions whose payoff takes time—and to manage hold periods and exits deliberately, when they serve the company and its owners rather than a deadline.

02Successions

The founder-friendly alternative.

We specialize in family successions.

We understand the emotional weight of selling a multi-generational business. For many founders it is the most consequential decision of a working life, and it involves family, employees, customers and a community as much as a price.

We offer flexible structures that let founders take chips off the table while retaining equity upside, stay involved in the role they choose, and hand over leadership on a timeline that suits the business. As a family office ourselves, we understand family dynamics in business, and we protect the culture and the employees that made the company successful.

A conversation before a process

Many of the best transitions begin years before a sale. Founders are welcome to talk with us early, without a banker or a deadline, about what a partnership could look like.

03Ownership

Control or significant minority.

We invest through control or significant minority stakes. In a minority position, we take board representation and work as an engaged partner, not a passive one.

  1. Family successions

A path for founders and families who want continuity, liquidity and a trusted steward for what they built—not a quick flip.

  2. Management buyouts

Backing management teams who want to own the business they run, with the capital and governance to do it well.

  3. Corporate carve-outs

Helping a division become a standalone company: its own leadership, systems, finance function and strategy.

  4. Recapitalizations

Rebalancing ownership and capital so a business can grow, partners can realize value, or a family can diversify while staying invested.

04Value creation

Operational, not financial.

We create value through operations. We do not rely on leverage to make a business work.

  1. Board leadership

A disciplined governance rhythm, clear priorities and an annual plan the whole leadership team owns.

  2. Talent

Strengthening the team where it matters most, often finance, sales and operations, while keeping the people who carry the culture.

  3. Pricing and revenue mix

Pricing discipline, a larger recurring share of revenue and less dependence on any one customer.

  4. Digitization and systems

Modern ERP, reporting and workflow tools that give management better information and free people for better work.

  5. Operational improvement

Lean practices, procurement and site-level playbooks that compound over many years of ownership.

  6. Bolt-on M&A

Acquisitions in fragmented markets, integrated with care, to build scale, capability and reach.

Early-stage companies

Early-stage companies are the remit of Caldrion Ventures, Caldrion’s venture capital arm and venture studio, at ventures.caldrion.com.

05Discipline

Patient, but never careless.

Permanent capital is a privilege that can be misused. A long horizon does not excuse a high price, a weak business or an unclear plan, and we hold ourselves to the same underwriting standards whether we expect to own a company for five years or fifty.

We look for durable businesses with strong fundamentals: real cash flow, healthy margins, customers who return and a market position that has been earned. We underwrite the downside first, keep leverage moderate, and only invest where we can see clearly how our ownership will make the business better.

06Why Caldrion

Why founders choose Caldrion.

Founders and management teams choose Caldrion for a partnership aligned with their legacy, not just a check.

Permanent capital

Unlike buyers bound by fixed fund lives, our capital is permanent, so we can hold a great business for decades and decide on exits deliberately.

Certainty of close

We invest our own money. When we see a fit, we move straight to due diligence and closing, and we do not re-trade at the eleventh hour.

Direct decision-makers

You deal directly with the people who decide. Decisions are made by a small internal investment committee that meets weekly. We need no outside approvals and no fundraising to close.
